Artist Statement

Sculptural, Playful, and Functional Jewelry

Picture
2012 Umbrella & Raindrop tea infuser set.

My jewelry, small sculptures, and functional objects are inspired by memory, and my interest in how form & function are directed by that ingrained narrative. I find form and function influence one-another in the way I not only design the object, but dictate how it is worn.

Beyond aesthetics, I enjoy exploring the implementation of humor & play. This may come through my work as a playful action with beauty, or consumption of food and beverage. My goal is to transfer my own memories into a whimsical & wearable world for my audience. Evoking others recollection, or imaginations are both welcomed responses to my pieces.

Every piece I create is something beyond jewelry, while still paying close attention to design. I give purpose and function to all my work, whether it be sipping tea, beauty needs, or connection with a thought of the past.
